A little well deserved R & R

Not just the kids in the orphanages and institutions are getting visits from our team, but here Talant is bringing gifts to one of the families that Sergey supports.... It has now been about 10 days strait that our friends have been doing the Christmas blessing thing, and I am sure that their own kids are starting to get a little ency, and with still another week of Christmas parties to go... it was time for a VERY well deserved break... So this afternoon, Sergey and Talant brought the kids to the mountain to go skiing.

Aurture was all decked out and having a great time.....

Melodi on the other hand found out that skiing was not as easy as it looked, and she was not so impressed with the idea of spending so much time falling down......Talant and Davina give us a wave from the top of the mountain

this is a photo of Emma and Bekah when we were there... I put it in so you could see the valley bellow.... it is about 4 miles wide and about 40 miles long... the Capital at one end and the seniors home at the other.. and every where we help in between, in fact Aigoola's house is right at the bottom of this hill, and in the summer, this is where Torat brings the animals.. the Valley is also on the north boarder of this Central Asian country... in fact the mountains you see in the distance are the neighboring country..

Hope in a Pot!

New Years day here in Haiti means "pumpkin soup". We delivered several pots of the "makings" for this celebratory soup to families. What a joy! The two Scott's loved making the deliveries.

Good morning from Port au Prince!

While Fred is still in bed sleeping off his "lactose" issues I thought I would sneak on and give you a few updates.

#1 - Happy Birthday Brianne!

#2 - We have received $150 towards young Joshua's physio to help with his Cerebral Palsy. Another $230 to go to cover the next year! Email us @ info@iam1ru to help us reach our goal.

#3 - The pic above is of Sarah Helps having a chat with one of the young men here. I saw the pic (with her posture) and thought "I wonder what she is saying"? Lets have some fun shall we...email me what you think she could be saying to this young man. Email your thoughts to sam@iam1ru.com

My New Years Resolution

Yummy cereal! I gotta cut out the dairy in my diet! Under the weather today. Will make a Fredmeister Post tomorrow!

Are you kidding me?

This is Sam...Fred is a bit under the weather...more about Fred later.
Salon (who you see in the above pic) is 30 years old. Her daughter Evangeline is 9 and the little guy Joshua is 18 months old. Joshua is Salon's nephew...his mom died when he was two months old. Joshua has cerebral palsy.
Salon and her family really need to get out of their present location(which is a 6' X 6' room) and move into a place that has a door...where she can keep herself and her children safe. With the help of an "Everyday Philanthropist" we have given enough money to the people we partner her with in Haiti to find a place to rent for Salon for the next year. The boy (Joshua) needs physio treatments to help with his sickness and these treatments ( a couple times a week) cost $32/month....about $375/year. I felt very strongly that we needed to help this young boy. So...if you would like to help with these treatments you can email us at info@iam1ru.com.

Christmas celebrations at the Baby Hospital

Today's photos are from the Baby hospital that we just did the renovation for.. As many of you know, there has been a back up of children waiting to go to the baby orphanage.. this has left the hospital with lots of extra mouths to feed, and no budget for this... Sergey and Anya have been bringing food for them as they are able. Over and over they have been sharing with me what an incredible Dr and staff this hospital has.

At the beginning of the Christmas season, their first stop was to bring food here, They were so thrilled that they could come back and bring gifts to the children that are there this Christmas season. In a couple weeks when the blankets are done, they will be getting new blankets as well... I had another confirmation of this when opened this email a few minutes ago.

Ania asked me to tell you that doctor Tatiana came today to ask for clothes and blankets for little baby who is in the hospital now. Baby burned by his mom with a boiled water. She didn't like when baby was crying she poured the water to her baby herself. So Ania gave to them Blanket and some clothes from your apartment.

When something as simple as a blanket requires a Dr to go out looking for help, I can only imagine the burst of encouragement it will be when our friends arrive there in a few weeks with a new EKG machine,.. and not just any EKG machine, but the exact make and model the hospital has been hopping for.

Hay look at the new floor ! after we renovated the rooms there, it became very evident that the old worn and torn flooring needed to be changed... We patched the spots we could, but when we priced out the floor , I realized it would be a job for the spring. I was so happy to hear that LAMb leadership had been there and were able to find sponsors to have the floors done....

Tomorrow we have lots more Christmas Celebrations in the works...

We are off!
